In the 1970s I used to watch this TV program, inspired by the Nonsense poems of Edward Leah and Lewis Carroll.
Of course, Lewis Carroll is best known for 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. Leah actually did his own art to illustrate his Nonsense Poems.
It is interesting to speculate how much this art may have influenced the Surrealists, like Salvador Dali, many years later. One artist that may have been influenced by it was Terry Gilliam, who did the artwork for Monty Python:
